My Name is Kiel Howden, and I am a music education student. I have been studying at McGill university since 2005, in which time I have finished a Jazz Trumpet Performance Bachelors, and a Bachelors in Music Education.

I am from Montreal, Quebec and have lived here for my whole life, other than my first few years when I grew up amongst the Inuit in Nunavik.

I attended Beaconsfield High School, where my passion for music was sparked and I began learning the trumpet. I continued my music education at Vanier College, and after that McGill.

Education has always been my primary passion, and I strongly believe that music is a building block which is essential in the  shaping of well rounded individuals.

I adore Big Band music and Funk music, which has been the main focus of my performances and studies over the past few years. I also used to play Rugby in high school and cegep, which I also love to do, but is much more physically taxing and injury-inducing than playing the trumpet.

I have often considered travelling in order to teach music. I have had the opportunity to tour in Canada, USA, France, Switzerland, and Cuba. Since music is a universal language, I would love to experience new cultures while sharing my passion for music and education while trying to learn as much as possible.
